Al-Shmlan Mosque is a great place to pray, if its an opportune time and you’re of the right religion! Technically established when the town walls were extended to its location in the late 1800’s, its a great launching pad for your exploration of the surrounding marketplace – and believe me there is a lot to explore. So if you’re moving by bus or by taxi or even a rent-a-car, this would be a great reference point to have. Its visible, its unique in its neighborhood, its strategically positioned to be equi-distant from everything around it, so even if you alone or if you have a crew get lost its easy to locate and return to. The markets around the mosque have everything: fabrics, food, spices, clothes, traditional wear, arts and crafts, a couple of fancy museums and art galleries. Basically everything you need to see in Kuwait. The uniqueness about this mosque is that it is on a roundabout. It shows how the place has been developed in past years around the mosque as the mosque itself is very old and one of the landmarks in Kuwait history.
