If anyone thinks that museums are only for boring people or it is a place where only history follower can go then a visit to “Pakistan Museum of Natural History” will definitely change your mind. It is actually established in 1976, under the patronage of “Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF), Ministry of Science and Technology Pakistan” situated in Garden Avenue Shakrparian in Islamabad.
The best part of this Pakistan Museum of Natural History is that they present history in very amusing and edifying manner. Scientist of “Pakistan Museum of Natural History (PMNH)” works very hard on different projects to exhibiting national history through research, publication, and dioramas. It has very vibrant and astonishing educational exhibition on several topics such as animal species, a native of our homeland, rocks, and fossils.
Pakistan Museum of Natural History is alienated in different divisions namely Botanical Sciences, Earth Sciences, Zoological Sciences and Public Services; the first three are totally affianced in collection, preservation and research, pertaining to minerals, plantation and fossils and specially in animal resource pertaining to Pakistan respectively, while the last one pertains to mass education and exhibit Pakistan rich natural history through various displays and dioramas, where (PMNH) also provide consultancy and advisory services to the public and private sector of Pakistan.
The Museum remains open From Saturday to Thursday. The main welcome area is very appealing for the out comers as it houses virtual orientation gallery, it is a creative achievement of PMNH in the field of information technology which offers informal training through electronic-based information kiosk regarding the “Natural Resources Of Pakistan” Flora, Fauna and Minerals. Here visitor also experience portrays and cinematography of wildlife, where the most engaging part is placed in the central hall, as the visitor walked down to the main hall they can experience a giant crocodile placed with its Jaws open. PMNH has five galleries showing different feature of our national history.
The most astonishing and appealing substance is the “Palaeo” arcade which revealing skeleton of primeval of Pakistan, the other gallery named “ECO gallery” houses ecosystem purposing to exhibit interaction of any living creature with the environment, there is another gallery named “Gems Gallery” showcasing precious gemstones explore in Pakistan, the most appealing is “Tethys gallery” Reveal information about the ocean life, and other various minerals founds in Pakistan. While the one that is the center of attraction of Pakistan Museum of Natural History is the huge Skelton of a blue whale. The last but not the least the Bio gallery exhibiting the rich history of plants and animal and also highlighting environmental problems those are critically intimidating on this biodiversity.
